Stop Waiting to Feel Like It: Faith Is Assurance of Things to Come

Faith isn't about feelings. It's about showing up when you don't feel like it — and trusting God with what comes next.

Let's be honest about something nobody talks about:

Most days, you won't feel like it.

You won't feel like waking up early. You won't feel like going to the gym. You won't feel like doing the hard thing.

And a voice in your head will whisper: "Just skip today. You deserve a break. One day won't matter."

But here's the truth: Real transformation doesn't happen when you feel like it. It happens when you show up anyway.

Not because you're motivated. Not because it's convenient. Not because you'll see immediate results.

But because obedience matters more than outcomes.

And that shift — from waiting to feel like it to showing up regardless — changes everything.

Faith Is Assurance, Not Feelings

Most people think faith is about feeling close to God. Feeling confident. Feeling like things will work out.

But that's not what faith is.

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." — Hebrews 11:1

Faith is assurance about what you don't see yet.

You don't see the results yet. But you trust they're coming.

You don't feel strong yet. But you believe God is building something.

You don't see the breakthrough yet. But you have assurance that obedience leads somewhere.

That's faith.

Not feelings. Not proof. Not immediate outcomes.

Faith is showing up even when you can't see the payoff yet — because you trust the One who promised it.

Obedience Is Your Part. Outcomes Are God's.

Here's what God is asking of you:

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23

Whatever you do.

Not "whatever you feel like doing."

Not "whatever is convenient."

Whatever you do — do it for God.

Not for applause. Not for recognition. Not because you'll see results today.

Because you're doing it for Him.

And when you're doing it for God, the outcome isn't your responsibility. Your responsibility is obedience.

God handles the results. You handle the showing up.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." — Proverbs 16:3

Notice the order: You commit. God establishes.

You don't establish your own plans through sheer effort. You commit your work to God, and He brings the results.

That's freedom.

You don't have to carry the weight of outcomes. You just have to show up.

You don't have to guarantee success. You just have to be obedient.

Obedience is your part. Outcomes are God's part.

The Days You Don't Want to Show Up

Let's talk about those mornings.

The alarm goes off. Your body aches. You didn't sleep well. The thought of training sounds exhausting.

Every fiber of your being says: "Not today."

And you have a choice.

You can listen to the feeling. Roll over. Skip it. Tell yourself you'll make it up tomorrow.

Or you can do the hard thing: get up anyway.

Not because you feel like it. Not because it will be fun.

Because obedience matters more than how you feel.

You Don't Feel Like Praying

Your mind is scattered. Prayer feels dry and pointless.

Obedience says: Pray anyway.

Not a perfect prayer. Just five minutes of honest conversation with God.

"God, I don't feel like praying. But I'm here. I'm showing up."

That's obedience. And God meets you there.

You Don't Feel Like Training

You're tired. You're sore. You'd rather sleep in.

Obedience says: Show up anyway.

Not a perfect workout. Just movement. Just effort. Just faithfulness.

You walk into the gym. You do the work. You finish.

And obedience produces peace that feelings never will.

You Don't Feel Like Serving

You're exhausted. You've given all week. You have nothing left.

Obedience says: Serve anyway.

"God, I don't have much today. But I'm here. Use what little I have."

And God multiplies it. Every time.

Obedience Is Worship

Here's the shift that changes everything:

Stop seeing obedience as obligation. Start seeing it as worship.

When you show up to train even when you don't feel like it — that's worship.

You're saying, "God, You gave me this body. I'm honoring You with it, even when it's hard."

When you pray even when you don't feel close to God — that's worship.

You're saying, "God, I trust You're here even when I don't feel You."

Worship isn't just singing songs on Sunday. Worship is obedience when it costs you something.

And the days you don't feel like it? Those are the days your worship means the most.

Because anyone can show up when they're motivated.

But showing up when you don't feel like it? That's faith in action.

Faith Gives You Assurance of Things to Come

Here's where faith becomes the fuel for obedience:

Faith isn't hoping things might work out. It's assurance that they will.

You don't see the breakthrough yet. But you have assurance it's coming.

You don't feel stronger yet. But you trust the process is working.

You don't see results today. But you believe God is building something you can't see.

That assurance — that deep-rooted trust that obedience leads somewhere — is what keeps you going when feelings fail.

Because feelings say: "This isn't working."

But faith says: "God is faithful. Keep going."

Feelings say: "You're not making progress."

But faith says: "The harvest is coming. Don't give up."

That's the assurance faith gives you.

Not that today will be easy. Not that you'll see results immediately.

But that showing up matters. That obedience leads somewhere. That God is working even when you can't see it.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9

The harvest is coming.

You don't see it yet. But it's coming.

Your job is to keep planting. God's job is to bring the growth.

What This Looks Like at Thumos

At Thumos, we don't build our culture around motivation. We build it around obedience with God.

Because motivation fades. Feelings fluctuate. Outcomes vary.

But obedience? Obedience with God is the foundation.

We Show Up Even When We Don't Feel Like It

Some mornings, you won't want to be there. You'll be tired. Sore. Distracted.

But you show up anyway.

Not because you're chasing a PR. But because showing up is an act of worship.

We Work as Unto the Lord

Every rep. Every set. Every workout.

We're not just training for ourselves. We're training to steward our bodies for God.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord."

That changes how you approach every session.

We Trust the Process, Not the Feelings

You won't always feel strong. You won't always see progress.

But we trust that obedience leads somewhere.

God's design works. The process works. Faithful effort compounds over time.

We don't need to see it today. We just need to show up.

The Reward of Obedience

Here's what happens when you make obedience your standard instead of feelings:

You become unshakable.

Not because life gets easier. But because you stop being controlled by how you feel.

You show up when you're tired. When you're unmotivated. When you don't see results.

And over time, that faithfulness compounds.

The workouts add up. The discipline strengthens. The character deepens.

You become the kind of person who finishes what they start.

Not because you're special. But because you learned to obey before you felt like it.

And here's the beautiful part: God rewards obedience.

Not always immediately. Not always in the way you expect.

But always.

The harvest is coming. Your job is to keep planting. God's job is to bring the growth.

So What Now?

Stop waiting to feel like it.

Stop waiting for motivation to strike.

Stop tying your obedience to your emotions.

Just show up.

Show up to pray even when you don't feel close to God.

Show up to train even when you're tired.

Show up to serve even when you're empty.

Because obedience isn't about feelings. It's about faith.

And faith gives you assurance that showing up matters — even when you can't see the results yet.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23

You're not doing this for likes. For applause. For recognition.

You're doing it for God.

And when you do it for God, the outcome is already secure.

You just have to keep showing up.

Ready to build a life rooted in obedience, not outcomes? At Thumos, we don't train for motivation. We train for faithfulness. Every session is an act of worship. Every rep is obedience.
