From Forge to Rise: A Look Inside Every Thumos Class
Four classes. One mission. Here's how to find the one that fits you — or why you might end up doing more than one.
You've probably heard us talk about Thumos Training as a faith-based gym. You've maybe read about the mission — training hard, standing firm, walking worthy. You know we open sessions with Scripture and close with prayer.
But what does an actual class look like?
That's a fair question. And it's one we want to answer honestly — because this isn't a one-size-fits-all gym. We built four distinct programs, each designed for a different person at a different point in their journey. Every single one of them is rooted in the same conviction: your body is a temple, and how you steward it matters.
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." — 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
So let's walk through them.
FORGE — Where Strength Meets Fire
Monday–Friday | 5:00 AM & 6:00 AM | 60 Minutes | High Intensity
Forge is the class you take when you want to be challenged before the sun comes up.
This is heavy compound lifts — deadlifts, squats, bench press, cleans — the movements that build raw, functional power. Every Forge session starts with a strength block built on progressive loading, designed to push you past what's comfortable and into what's possible.
Then comes the HIIT finisher. Twelve to fifteen minutes of high-intensity interval work using kettlebells, dumbbells, wall balls, and conditioning equipment. It's meant to test everything you just built — your strength, your endurance, your willingness to finish when your body is telling you to stop.
Forge isn't for the casual. It's for the person who believes discipline is an act of worship and wants to prove it every morning.
Who it's for: Anyone who wants to get genuinely strong and isn't afraid of heavy barbells. Men and women of all experience levels are welcome — we scale every movement. But you need to bring intensity. Forge demands it.
What you'll feel after: Tired. Accomplished. Ready for anything the day throws at you.
RISE — Fast. Functional. Fierce.
Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM & 9:00 AM | 60 Minutes | Moderate-High Intensity
Rise is a full-body strength and conditioning class built for people who want to work hard, move well, and leave feeling empowered.
Where Forge loads heavy, Rise focuses on lighter weights at higher volume — dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, resistance bands, and bodyweight movements. The pace is faster, the rest is shorter, and the emphasis is on form, function, and flow. You'll move through supersets and circuits that challenge every muscle group while keeping your heart rate elevated the entire session.
Every Rise class finishes with a cardio-core cool down that brings you back to baseline — because we don't just want you to survive the workout. We want you to walk out better than you walked in.
Rise is where consistency becomes character. It meets you where you are and builds from there.
Who it's for: Rise was designed with women in mind, but it's open to everyone. It's ideal for anyone who wants strength and conditioning without maxing out a barbell — moms, working professionals, people returning to fitness after a break, and athletes looking for active recovery days.
What you'll feel after: Energized. Strong in a full-body way. Like you earned your morning.
SPARC — Built for the Competitive Athlete
Monday–Friday | 4:00 PM & 5:00 PM | 60 Minutes | High Intensity
SPARC is Thumos Training's sport performance program, built around five pillars: Speed, Plyometrics, Agility, Resistance, and Conditioning.
Every session opens with an Olympic lift — power cleans, front squats, push jerks — building the kind of raw explosive power that translates directly to the field, the court, and the mat. Then you move into 30 minutes of SPARC work: acceleration drills, box jumps, lateral shuffles, sled sprints, and sport-specific conditioning designed to make you faster, more explosive, and harder to beat. The resistance component is what separates SPARC from a typical speed camp — Olympic weightlifting is woven into every session, developing the foundational strength that makes speed and power possible.
This class was designed for student athletes who want to compete at the next level. But it's also for the adult who still has a competitive fire burning and wants to train like it matters — because it does.
SPARC trains the whole athlete: body, mind, and spirit. We don't just want to make you better at your sport. We want to develop the kind of character that shows up in the fourth quarter when it counts.
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." — 1 Corinthians 9:24
Who it's for: High school and college athletes preparing for their next season. Adults who train with athletic intent. Anyone who wants to develop speed, explosiveness, and competitive conditioning built on a foundation of Olympic-style resistance training.
What you'll feel after: Like an athlete. Explosive. Ready.
IRON — Iron Sharpens Iron
Monday–Friday | 5:00 PM & 6:00 PM | 60 Minutes | Moderate Intensity
Iron is the afternoon strength class for people who want to move heavy weight with precision, purpose, and a plan.
Where Forge pairs strength with HIIT, Iron slows things down. The focus is compound barbell lifts and demanding supersets with intentional rest between sets. We know your energy is different at 5 PM than it is at 5 AM — so Iron is programmed accordingly. More rest. More volume. More time under tension. The goal is lean muscle, structural strength, and progressive overload that builds over time.
Iron is built on the same principle as the proverb it's named for: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."— Proverbs 27:17. This class is about showing up alongside other people who are serious about getting stronger — and letting that shared commitment push you further than you'd go alone.
Who it's for: Anyone who prefers an evening training session. People who love traditional strength training — supersets, compound lifts, controlled tempo. Men and women of all experience levels.
What you'll feel after: Strong. Grounded. Like you didn't skip the hard stuff, but you also didn't have to redline to get there.
How They All Fit Together
Here's what makes Thumos different from a gym that offers fifty random classes on a rotating schedule: every one of these programs is built on a 12-month progression. Your training isn't random. It's periodized — meaning every month builds on the last, with intentional loading phases, deload weeks, and programming that evolves as you grow.
And here's the part that matters most to us: all four programs share the same weekly Scripture series. Whether you walk into Forge at 5 AM or Iron at 5 PM, you're in the same passage, wrestling with the same truth, growing alongside the same community. The workout is the vehicle. The Word is the destination.
That's not an accident. That's by design.
A Week at Thumos Might Look Like This
Say you're someone who wants to train four days a week. Your rhythm might look something like:
Monday: Forge at 6 AM — start the week strong with heavy pulls and a conditioning finisher.
Tuesday: Rise at 8 AM — full-body movement, lighter load, higher tempo.
Thursday: Iron at 5 PM — evening strength session, supersets, controlled pace.
Friday: Forge at 5 AM — end the week the way you started: in the fire.
Or maybe you're a student athlete. You're in SPARC every afternoon at 4 PM, training speed and power for your upcoming season. On Saturday mornings, you join Iron Faith — our faith-and-fitness small group — for a workout and a deeper dive into Scripture with other men and women who take both seriously.
The point is this: these programs aren't competing with each other. They complement each other. And you get to build the weekly rhythm that fits your life, your goals, and your season.
Every Rep. Every Set. Every Prayer.
At Thumos Training, we don't believe the gym is just a place to sweat. We believe it's a place to be sharpened — physically, mentally, and spiritually. Every class opens with God's Word. Every session is coached with purpose. Every person who walks through the door is known, challenged, and cared for.
That's what we're building in Blaine, Minnesota. That's what these four programs are designed to deliver.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23
